Martha Was My First
Back in the early-1980s, my friends and I stole several copies (each!) of Subway Art, the pictorial bible of New York graffiti. It was chock full of Martha Cooper’s photos (along with Henry Chalfant). That book, in no small way, effectively kicked off my graffiti “career,” my first job in the art world, and eventually lead to the launch of URB magazine.
